Anna Moretti Calos

Hello, I'm Anna Moretti Calos, Founder and Funeral Director of Gentle Hand Funerals.

In January 2022, I founded Gentle Hand Funerals with one simple goal: to provide families with compassionate, personalised, and affordable funeral care during one of life's most difficult times.

I am honoured to own and operate one of the few family-owned and independently operated funeral homes in Sydney. Every family I care for receives my personal attention from our very first conversation through to the day I return your loved one's ashes or death certificate. I believe families deserve continuity, genuine care, and someone they can trust throughout the entire journey.

My career in the funeral industry began in 2014 when I joined InvoCare as a Family Service Advisor at Northern Suburbs Memorial Park. I later continued my career at Forest Lawn Memorial Park before progressing to the role of Funeral Director and Conductor with Guardian Funerals in 2017, one of Sydney's largest funeral providers.

Those years gave me invaluable experience caring for families from many different cultural and religious backgrounds. They also helped me realise that while large organisations offer many resources, families were often searching for something much more personal.

Starting Gentle Hand Funerals wasn't just about opening another funeral business.

It was about creating the kind of service I would want for my own family.

Every life deserves to be remembered in a meaningful way, and every family deserves to feel supported throughout the journey. My mission is to guide families with empathy, honesty and compassion while creating personalised farewells that truly celebrate the life of someone special.

If you have questions, need advice, or simply don't know where to begin, I invite you to reach out to me. Even if you're planning ahead, I'm always happy to have a conversation.

Because when you need it most, everyone deserves a Gentle Hand.

My Personal Experience with Grief

My understanding of grief doesn't come solely from my profession; it also comes from my own personal experiences of loss.

Having experienced grief myself has helped me appreciate that every person's journey is different. There is no right or wrong way to grieve, and every family deserves patience, kindness and understanding.

It is this personal insight that shapes how I care for every family I meet.

Funeral Arrangements in the Comfort of Your Home

I understand that visiting a funeral home can sometimes feel overwhelming.

That is why I offer families the option of meeting in the comfort of their own home. Many people find it easier to talk openly and make important decisions in familiar surroundings, allowing us to have meaningful conversations without feeling rushed or pressured.

Of course, if you would prefer to meet elsewhere, I am always happy to accommodate your wishes.

Why Families Choose Gentle Hand Funerals

Families tell me they choose Gentle Hand Funerals because they value:

  • Personal, one-on-one care from beginning to end.

  • Honest and transparent pricing.

  • Compassion without compromise.

  • Personalised funeral services tailored to every family.

  • Flexibility to meet in your own home.

  • Support before, during and after the funeral.

  • A genuine commitment to treating every family as if they were my own.

When you contact Gentle Hand Funerals, you won't be passed from person to person you will deal directly with me throughout the entire process.

Every Life Has a Story Worth Celebrating

One thing I have learned throughout my career is that no two lives are ever the same.

That is why I specialise in creating personalised and themed funerals that truly reflect the individual. Some of the services I have been privileged to arrange include a golf-themed farewell complete with a custom golf course coffin lid, golf buggies, clubs and family memorabilia throughout the chapel. Another memorable farewell included arranging for the Batmobile to escort a father on his final journey, creating a special and lasting memory for his children.

For me, these aren't simply funeral services; they are celebrations of a person's life, personality, passions and legacy.

Whether you would like something traditional, contemporary, religious, cultural or completely unique, I will work alongside you to create a farewell that feels authentic to your loved one.
